3. A day on Herøy and Døna

Ane Rodrigo

The trip we made to Herøy and Dønna was amazing. We had an incredible guide that showed us the beautiful surroundings. We went to visit two different churches and one museum. The first church was the “Herøy kirke”, located in the village of Silvalen. The guide told us the story of the church and some peculiar people. From the outside, we could see that the church was made of white stones and the inside was quite big as it has been extended some years later. Close to the church there was a house museum where we saw a lot of traditional costumes and objects from those years. Moreover, there was a room I liked a lot, which represented an old school. In those years they had no schools, so they studied in small rooms at home and the teacher had to move into different houses in order to give the lessons.

Furthermore, after visiting those two places, the guide gave us some ingredients to prepare a home-made pizza with some vegetables and moose meat. After that, we baked them in a wood stove outside the museum. I enjoyed a lot this activity and the pizza was really nice. It was a fantastic meal!
