1. Museums in Nordland

Ane Rodrigo

The week in Sandnessjøen we visited lots of museums. For example, we went to Helgeland Museum. This museum is formed of 17 different museums in 16 municipalities. In those museums people can see how was the civilization´s life style from hundreds of years ago and which type of work they used to do. We went to visit the museum that is located in Mosjøen. There, we saw how was the town lots of years ago and they told us the story of the crazy mayor that wanted to destroy many houses in order to built a parking for a shopping center he owned. Hopefully, this never happened. Moreover, we saw how a traditional market was like and which type of products they used to sell. It was a very nice museum with lots of objects from those ages and interesting stories.

Apart from that, we have visited Petter Dass, Herø and Nordland museum at Bodø. Unfortunately, I couldn´t go to visit the Petter Dass museum, but I have read a lot about it and it seems to be very interesting. The museum is about Petter Dass, a clergyman and a writer. He lived in Northern Norway (born in Herøy) and he became famous because of his poetry (we wrote both, baroque hymns and topographical poetry).

Moreover, the building is pretty cool in the outside. It seems to connect perfectly with the surroundings, as they cut the landscape to cause that sensation. And of course, it is a very modern and amazing building.
